Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the hardnee, weather resistance, water-resistance and chemical resistance of an undercoat paint for the protection of the surface of a paint film, by specificially combining an acrylic urethane resin as an undercoat paint and a topcoat paint mainly composed of hydrolysis products of organosiloxanes.
CONSTITUTION: A paint mainly composed of an acrylic urethane resin containing less than 50wt% methyl methacrylate in the solid content of the resin is applied onto a substrate, e.g. a plastic article or the like. The paint is based, for instance, on an acryl polyol having 10W200 OH groups and an acid value of 1W12 and a nonyellowing polyisocyanate, and has an OH/NCO equivalent ratio of 0.6W1.2. Onto the paint film is applied a paint mainly composed of an organosiloxane, e.g. hydrolysis products of tetraalkoxysilicon and alkyltrialkoxysilicon. The amount of the latter hydrolysis product in the paint is preferably more than that of the former.
