Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the output power of a gas turbine and raise its efficiency, by cooling at air the inlet side to a compressor with injecting cool water in a water injection line to a gas turbine combustor.
CONSTITUTION: Water stored in a water storage tank 1 passes through a feed water piping 2 and strainer 3 to reach a pump 4, and is increased its pressure to pass through a water control valve 5 and reach an evaporative cooler 6 provided in an inlet housing 7. Here the water performs heat exchanging operation with air sucked from both sides of the inlet housing 7, then the suction air is cooled by the water. The water, which has completed the heat exchanging operation with the air, is collected to a collector in a lower part of the evaporative cooler 6 then boosted to required pressure by a water injection pump 9 to pass through a filter 11 and 14, flowmeter 12, shut-off valve 13, flow control valve 15, feed stop valve 16 and the like, thus reach a nozzle 19 finally injected into a combustor 20.
