Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a simple-structure speaker having a low Qo and high damping, by fixing a ring-shaped magnet having the upper and lower magnetic poles to a frame and then filling the magnetic fluid between the magnet and a diaphragm. CONSTITUTION:The flat diaphragm 1 and the voice coil 2 are supported by the damper 3 and the magnetic fluid 4 at the edge part. This oscillation system is driven by a magnetic circuit 8 comprising magnet 5, yoke 6 and plate 7. The magnet 10 fixed to the frame 9 is a square ring in accordance with the shape of diaphragm 1 and has the magnetic poles N and S at the upper and lower sides. Then the magnetic fluid 4 in which the magnetic particles are mixed with the viscid fluid into a colloidal form is filled between the magnet 10 and the outer circumference surface of diaphragm 1. The magnetic lines of force are generated by the magnet 10, and thus the magnetic particles of the fluid 4 are attracted to the magnet 10. As a result, the fluid 4 functions as a spring that gives back-forth vibrations to the diaphragm 1 as an edge.
