Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the whole amount of exhaust gas from being introduced in the turbocharger when an engine is running at low temperature by a method wherein a temperature sensing valve is provided to introduce a pressure signal into the working chamber of a waste gate valve to open the waste gate valve when an engine is running at low temperature.
CONSTITUTION: There is provided the temperature sensing valve 15 comprising a bimetal 59, a valve body 57 and the like to introduce a pressure signal into the working chamber of the waste gate valve 15 to open the waste gate valve 15 when the engine is running at low temperature. When the engine is running at low temperature, the bend of the bimetal 59 is small and the valve body 57 allows an inlet port 55 and an outlet port 53 to communicate with each other to open the temperature sensing valve 51. As a result, the atomosphere is introduced in a diaphragm chamber 25 and the valve 15 is opened by a spring 23. Consequently a bypass passage 17 is opened to bypass a part of exhaust gas as indicated by the arrow head E. As the whole amount of exhaust gas energy is not introduced into a turbine 9, the rotational frequency increase of the turbine 9 is suppressed and the turbine failure at low temperature running is avoided.
