Abstract

PURPOSE: An acaricide that contains an animal or vegetable oil for industrial use and an edible emulsifier such as glycerol, sorbitol, propylene glycol or sucrose fatty acid ester as active components, thus being economical, safe and effective.
CONSTITUTION: An animal or vegetable oil for industrial use such as linsed oil, tung oil, castor oil, sardin oil, saury oil, their hardened oils, fractionated oil or oxidatively polymerized oil and an edible emulsifier in an amount of 0.05W30wt% based on the oil are used as active components to give the objective acaricide. The resultant acaricide has high safety and shows high acaricidal activity, because it forms uniform and stable oil films on the leaf surfaces and body surfaces of mites by the action of the emulsifier. This acaricide can be combined with another insecticide or antimicrobial, when necessary, however, the additive is desirably as low as possible in toxicity.
