Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a sludge having good precipitating property by quickly decomposing mold present in activated sludge by the addition of an inorganic acid salt of iron to the activated sludge.
CONSTITUTION: In the treatment of organic waste water by an activated sludge method, an inorganic acid salt of iron is added, in case where mold grows abnormally, to activated sludge mixture in a proportion of 100W1,000ppm in an aeration tank. The inorganic acid salt of iron to add includes ferrous sulfate, ferrous nitrate, ferric sulfate, ferric chloride, etc. Also, if the amount of the inorganic acid salt of iron to add it too small, the mold could not be sufficiently decomposed, but if it is too mush, solids could not be separated favorably in the precipitation tank.
