Abstract

PURPOSE:To propvide the dot printer which is simple in structure and capable of feeding ink to a wire without use of ink ribbons by a method wherein a fibrous and porous ink impregnating member is fitted in contact with the wire, in the wire dot printer. CONSTITUTION:At the nose 11 of a printing head 1, an ink impregnating member 12 made of a fibrous and porous plastic or the like such as polyester and nylon is fitted in contact with a wire 2. Ink 16 is fed from an ink tank 15 to the ink impregnating member 12 through an ink feed tube 14 consisting of vinyl tube or the like. In this case, the ink tank 15 is so positioned that the ink surface level in it is at a negative pressure or static pressure relative to the ink impregnating member 12. Accordingly, the ink sucked upward by the capillary action of the ink impregnating member 12 is moved from the clearance between a wire 2 and the guide hole of wire guides 4, 3 to the tip end of the wire 2 by capillary action, and adheres to the tip end of the wire 2.
