Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce titled polymer having good moldability, by treating a gel-like acetylene high polymer containing an organic solvent with an electron-accepting compound.
CONSTITUTION: A gel-like (or swollen) acetylene high polymer containing 5W 99wt% organic solvent such as an aromatic hydrocarbon or an aromatic ether, is treated with an electron-accepting compound such as a halogen, a metal halide or a protonic acid at about 100°C, so that the high polymer is doped with up to about 0.4mol, per mol carbon of acetylene high polymer, of the electron-accepting compound. Said modified gel-like acetylene high polymer can be easily produced by compression or calendering, and the molded products have excellent mechanical strength. In addition, their electrical conductivity is suitably selected within the range of 10-8W10-3Ωcm.
