Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce a circuit loss by obtaining an irreducible necessary power voltage by controlling the output voltage of a variable DC power source corresponding to the peak envelope of output signal amplitude simultaneously with the gain control over an amplifier.
CONSTITUTION: Direct current power source 10 supplying a voltage between power terminals 8 and 9 of main amplifier 5 is a system which performs the pulse-width modulation of the output of DC power source 16 whose output voltage is constant corresponding to the output pulse of pulse-width modulating circuit 11. Meanwhile, the output of preamplifier 2 is amplified by variable gain amplifier 14 whose gain is adjusted by coupling with variable attenuator 4 and then smoothed by rectifying circuit 15 to obtain a modulated control signal, which is supplied to circuit 11. Therefore the voltage at output terminal 6 of amplifier 5 is in inverse proportion to the smoothing output of circuit 15. As a result, the output of circuit 10 is nearly equal to or greater than the output voltage of amplifier 5. In the responding of circuit 15 and the operation of circuit 10, however, there is time lag, so that delay circuit 3 will make time connections of it. Thus, the loss can be reduced by obtaining an irreducible necessary power voltage adequate for the voltage amplitude of amplifier 5.
