Abstract
PURPOSE: To remove the foreign matters effectively from the sea water with performance of the condenser maintained, by arranging a separator in a foreign matter discharge system, separating the foreign matters to be discharged to a cooling sea water outlet system, and introducing the separated sea water into the condenser through a branch system branched from the separator.
CONSTITUTION: The foreign matter removing apparatus 5 is interposed in a cooling sea water inlet system 10 so that foreign matters included in the sea water from a pump 4 may be removed and the cooling sea water free of the foreign matters is fed to the condenser 1. The foreign matters are introduced together with part of the cooling sea water into a separator 6 via a discharge system 21a, and are separated on a filtering surface of the separator 6, and the cooling sea water is introduced as a colling medium into an inlet water chamber 2 through a branch system 22. The foreign matters separated and held on the filtering surface will be dicharged by the action of the sea water flow of a discharge system 21b which will be determined by regulated openings of valves V1WV3 due to a pressure difference between the pressure P1 and pressure P2 located before and after the separator 6. Thus the amount of discharged sea water will be minimized so that the foreign matters may be effectively removed.
