Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the generation of electricity by a simple equipment by a method wherein a screw driving the power generator is provided outside a floating body and rotated by tidal power.
CONSTITUTION: The screw 1 larger-sized than a propeller used for an ordinary ship is fitted under the floating body 2, and the shaft center thereof is adapted so as to be turned in the direction of the tidal current. The floating body 2 is fixed to the sea bottom 8 by a wire rope 3. The rotations of the screw 1 are transmitted to the generator 5 installed inside the floating body 2 through suitable rotation transmitting means such as shafts and gears and the power obtained from the generator is transmitted to the land through a transmission cable 4. As described in the above, the electricity generating installation in which the tidal current is utilized by a simple equipment can be attained.
