Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect capacity with high precision even during operation by calculating starting power and dead short current at the time of short-circuit from discharge current and the terminal voltage of the battery, subjecting the results to corrlerative function processing according to prescribed experimental formulas and thereby determining the capacity of the battery. CONSTITUTION:The maximum discharge current I1 of the battery flowing in the period from starting of a crank shaft to rotation thereof at a prescribed angle and the terminal voltage V1 of the battery at that point of time as well as the minimum discharge current I2 and the terminal voltage V2 corresponding thereto are detected detecting circuits 14, 16 and 18, 20 and starting power Eo and dead short current Is at the time of short-circuit are computed in an operation circuit 24 on the basis of the formulas I and II, and further the four-times value Po of the maximum power value according to the formula III is computed.
