Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable detection of capacity with high precision even during operation by calculating electromotive force and dead short current at the time of short-circuit from discharge current and the terminal voltage of the battery at that point of time and by determining the capacity of the battery based on prescribed experimental formulas. CONSTITUTION:By detecting circuit 14 and 18 detecting the peak value I1, I2 etc. and detecting circuits 16 and 20 for V1, V2 and the like, the maximum dischatge current I1 generated while a crank shaft is rotated at a prescribed angle from the time of start thereof and the terminal voltage V1 of the battery at that point of time, as well as the voltage V2 corresponding to the minimum discharge current I2, are detected, and the electromotive force Eo and the dead short current Is at the time of short circuit based on the formulas I and II are computed through digital processing by an operation circuit 24.
