Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate the waste water purification within a shortened time period in an inexpensive installation under easily controllable operational conditions, by aligning a nonwoven fabric sheet of a desired thickness in a vertically zigzag shape, and carrying the waste water along the lengthwise of the nonwoven fabric sheet.
CONSTITUTION: A filter member 2 composed of a nonwoven fabric sheet having a thickness 0.5W8mm is aligned vertically zigzag at angles of 0.5W90° in a disposing vessel 1. Air is injected onto the substantially whole surface of the sheet 2 from the bottom of the filter bed by an air deffuser 5, while a waste water is carried along the surface of the sheet 2. In this vessel 1, a waste water containing nitric nitrogen and nitrous nitrogen is denitrified under an anaerobic atmosphere. The nonwoven fabric sheet is preferably a spun-bonded nonwoven fabrics made from fiber of 1W15 denier. According to this process, both of ammoniac nitrogen denitrifying and BOD reducing capacities per a volume unit can be raised twice or much higher than those in a conventional floating process.
