Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a paint coating having uniform coloration witout decolorization by a method wherein the extrusion molded Al material subjected to the inorg. electrolytic coloration in a metal salt solution containing a silver salt is immersed in a solution of a thiocarbamide compound and, thereafter, the electrodeposition painting is applied to prevent color transfer to the electrodeposition paint coating.
CONSTITUTION: In an aqueous metal salt solution containing one or more of a silver salt (e.g.; silver nitrate) and, according to necessity, an oxygen-acid salt of Se (e.g.; H2SeO3) or the like, the extrustion molded Al material is immersed as one electrode and Ac or DC electrolysis is carried out between said electrode and facing electrode to apply the inorg. electrolytic coloration to said extrusion molded Al material. Subsequently, the extrusion molded Al material applied with said inorg electrolytic coloration is immersed in an aqueous solution or an aqueous dispersion containing thiocarbamic acid, dithiocarbamic acid, thiourea or a derivative thereof at a concn. of 1.0g/l or more, especially, 2.0g/l or more. Next, said immersion treated extrusion molded Al material is washed with water and, thereafter, the electrodeposition painting is applied thereto by using an electrodeposition paint containing a polycarboxylic acid resin and an amino resin as film forming components.
