Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain simply the FRP bent tube having smooth inner and outer surfaces by a method wherein an auxiliary core is wetted and a tube body is bent before an FRP layer, formed by utilizing a material losing the shape retaining strength thereof by wetting as the auxiliary core, finishes the hardening thereof.
CONSTITUTION: The material (a shape retaining material) 5, having the shape retaining strength in a dried condition but losing the shape retaining strength thereof in a wetted condition, is coated on the whole outer peripheral surface of a straight hard core 1 and FRP material 4 is wound thereon through a parting tape 3. The core 1 is released from the shape retaining material while the hardening resin is not hardened yet or in semihardened condition and water is injected against the inner surface of the tube corresponding to a bending part to wet and bent the shape retaining material 5 at that part, then that part is adjusted to the predetermined curvature, thereafter, the FRP material layer 4 is hardened perfectly. Thereafter, the shape retaining material 5 is removed from the inner surface of the bent tube. Nonsizing paper or machined paper utilizing water soluble binding agent is utilized as the shape retaining material.
