Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently manufacture a tapered wire rod in a good yield through a continuous plastic working, by turning around the feed path for wire rod, a couple of cross rolls arranged along the feed path, and by altering the rolling force. CONSTITUTION:The driving source rotates the transmission gear 5, which then rotates the rotary ring 4. While gradually increasing the revolving speed of the ring 4, a blank wire rod 1 is fed into the gap of a couple of cross rolls 2a, 2b. With increase of the revolving speed of ring 4, a centrifugal force acts on each of counter weights Wa, Wb rotating at a specified position on the circumference of the ring 4 making a rolling conact; this centrifugal force attracts each of frames 3a, 3b through connectors 5a, 5b. As a result, the press force applied to the blank wire rod 1 by the rolls 2a, 2b becomes large. By thus controlling the revolving speed of the ring 4, the diameter of the wire rod 1 can be continuously and repeatedly changed.
