Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a modified resin which is suitable as a vehicle for dry-lithorgraphic printing ink which fouls plates little at high temperatures, by modifying a cyclopentadiene type resin prepared by the reaction of higher fatty acid esters, with a vinyl group-containing silicon compound.
CONSTITUTION: About 98W35wt% cyclopentadiene type resin (one having a softening pont of about 80W200°C and a Gardner color of below 13 is preferred) is reacted with about 2W65wt% higher fatty acid ester having conjugated double bonds (a triester of glycerin with a 12C or higher monocarboxylic acid having conjugated double bonds is preferred) and about 0W30wt% unsaturated discarboxylic acid anhydride such as maleic anhydride. Then, a modified resin is formed by reacting 100pts.wt. above reaction product with about 1W80pts.wt. vinyl group-containing silicon compound such as vinyltrimethoxysilane.
