Abstract

PURPOSE: A flame-retardant polyamide fiber in which melamine cyanurate of a specific particle size is dispersed, thus showing high flame retardancy without any adverse effect on inherent properties of polyamide.
CONSTITUTION: A polyamide composition that is composed of (A) 97W85wt% of a polyamide such as nylon 66 and (B) 3W15wt% of melamine isocyanurate of which about 100% is partiles of less than 30μ sizes and more than 80% has particles sizes of less than 7μ is melt spun to produce the objective flame-retardant fiber of 10W100μ filament diameter.
EFFECT: The resultant fiber can be used, after made into cloth, to produce various kinds of fabricated products required to be flame retardant without flame retarding processing.
