Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable the easy separation and recycling of a catalyst-containing layer, and to obtain the high quality titled compound from the reaction liquid, by reacting an organic carboxylic acid (anhydride) with phosgene in the presence of a lower aliphatic amide in a solvent comprising an aromatic hydrocarbon.
CONSTITUTION: In the preparation of the titled compound by the reaction of an organic carboxylic acid (anhydride) with phosgene in the presence of a lower aliphatic amide (e.g. DMF) as a catalyst, an aromatic hydrocarbon (e.g. benzene, toluene, etc.) is used as a reaction solvent. The use of the above reaction solvent enables the separation of a phase containing the active catalyst from the phase containing the reaction products, and consequently, enables the recycling and reuse of the catalyst to the phosgenation reaction system. The amount of the catalyst is 0.05W0.3mol/1mol of the carboxylic acid, and the reaction temperature is pref. 60W90°C.
EFFECT: The process is economical because the catalyst can be reused. The product obtained has excellent hue.
