Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled glass having improved machining characteristics and bending properties and a low melting point, by melting a raw material consisting of SiO2, Al2O3, MgO, ZnO, B2O3, Na2O and TiO2, molding the material, and heat- treating the molded article.
CONSTITUTION: A raw material prepared by mixing 40W60wt% SiO2, 15W25wt% Al2O3, 0W12wt% MgO, 0W12wt% ZnO, 3W15wt% MgO and ZnO, 1W5wt% TiO2, 2W10wt% B2O3 and 4W13wt% Na2O and if necessary one or more kinds of colorants is molten, and the resultant molten glass is molded into a plate, which is then heat-treated at 1,000°C or blow to form crystals, e.g. forsterite and gahnite, and obtain the aimed crystallized glass. The resultant crystallized glass has improved bending strength, hardness, and resistance to acids, alkalis and weather, and can be used as a building material without devitrification in molding.
