CONSTITUTION: This translucent glass has a composition ≥95wt% of which consisting of, by weight 60W85% SiO2, 0.5W10% Al2O3, 2W25% R2O (R is an alkali metal), 0.3W20% CaO, 0.3W20% BaO, 0.1W3% SO3, 0.1W3.5% Cl, 0W5% B2O3, 0W3% F, 0W10% ZnO, 0W10% MgO, 0W10% SrO, 0W10% PbO, 0W1% As2O3 and 0W1% Sb2O3. Gypsum and barium sulfate crystals are deposited in the glass, presenting a soft silky gloss, and this glass is obtd. inexpensively.
