Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise carrier-air/fuel-mist mixture temperature and facilitate ignition by heating the carrier air, in a system wherein a fuel mist is fed to a burner head by carrier air serving also as primary air before being burnt there.
CONSTITUTION: In this combustor, a fuel oil 11 is stored in the bottom of an oil tank 1, and a liquid column 12 is built up on the oil surface by driving an ultrasonic vibrator 2. A fuel mist 13 generated from the column 12 is passed through a mist feed cylinder 4 by carrier air (serving also as primary air) fed from a carrier air pipe 7, mixed with auxiliary primary air, fed to a burner head 5, ignited, and burnt. A heater 14 is provided in a carrier air passage portion such as the pipe 7, and heaters 15 and 16 also are provided for heating the auxiliary primary air and secondary air respectively. Thus, the carrier air and auxiliary primary air are preheated, fuel-mist/air mixture temperature is raised, and ignition is facilitated.
