Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of excessivly large current and excessively large torque in an induction motor by the method such that the power supply voltage of a reference value circuit which determines the time of changing the number of pulses is made substantially proportional to the DC input voltage, and thereby voltage jumps at the time of switching the number of pulses are reduced.
CONSTITUTION: Voltage detector 10 is connected to the input terminal of PWM inverter 1, and thereby the input power is detected. The detected output is made into a reference value cricuit power source for changing the number of pulses. Tachometer generator TG, connected to induction motor IM, produces an output voltage signal proportional to the rotational frequency of induction motor IM. This output voltage signal is fed to comparator 11. Comparator 11 compares the reference voltag value for changing the number of pulses with the voltage proportional to the rotational frequency and controls the on-off operation of transistors Tr1∼Tr3 at the point where the output voltage signal of tachometer generator TG exceeds the reference voltage value, and thereby the number of pulses is changed as desired.
