Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent flutter on the display from occurring on a digital chronograph by driving only predetermined segment of 1/10,1/(100) second 7 segments during stop watch operation. CONSTITUTION:When a switch SW3 is closed after switching a watch mode to stop watch mode by a switch SW4, it becomes stop watch operation state where a flip-flop FF51 is set to cause an AND gate 54 to be opened by the set output therefrom with the result that 100Hz pulses formed by a frequency divider 22 and a pulse generator 24 are counted by stop watch counters 31-33. Simultaneously, a selector 46 selects a decoder 44 by the set output of the flip-flop FF51. Only the segments a1, f1, g1, e1, d1 and a2, b2, c2, d2 are driven of the 7 segments a1- g1, a2-g2 for displaying display digits 5 1/10, 1/(100) second on the display unit 2 through the decoder 44. Thus, the display indicates the initial state 0 and the drive segments are limited to thereby occur no flutter on the display so as to thus prevent erroneous display due to low liquid crystal of low response speed.
