Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the insulation type magnetic toner of not requiring any carrier capable of forming the transfer images of high densities having good continuous gradiations by grinding and granulating the thermoplastic resins, ferromagnetic materials, charge control agents, etc. having been blended at the specific ratios without using any solvent.
CONSTITUTION: Thermoplastic resin (A) such as vinyl-base resin of glass transition point about 20°C or higher and weight-average molecular weight about 1000 to 500,000, fine particulate ferromagnetic material (ferrite, iron, cobalt, etc.) (b) of mean particle size about 0.1 to 1μ (preferably 0.3 to 0.8μ), charge control agent (c) such as fettschwarz HBN (color index No. 26150), phthalocyanine blue, etc. are premixed within about 24 hours, after which the mixture is heated and kneaded for about 20 to 60 minutes at about 60 to 120°C by using an extruder. After this is cooled and hardened, it is ground, whereby the toner is obtained. The abovementioned blending ratios are made about 20 to 70pts.wt. of the composition b and about 0.1 to 10pts.wt. of the component c based on 100 pts.wt. of the toner.
