Abstract

PURPOSE: To form the liquid crystal display plate which is superior in the orientation characteristic of liquid crystal molecules and is free from degradation in orientation characteristics even at a high temperature of about 85°C by providing the orientation treatment layer composed of polyphenylene sulfide thin films on substrate surfaces.
CONSTITUTION: An antidiffusion film 5 composed of SiO2, transparent electrodes 5 and polyphenylene sulfide film (orientation treatment layer) 7 are laminated in this order on a substrate 2. Next, a pair of the abovementioned substrates are opposedly disposed by way of spacers 3 and nematic liquid crystal 4 is filled therebetween, thence polarizing plates 8, 8 are disposed on both sides of both substrates 2, 2 to provide the liquid crystal display plate. The abovementioned polyphenylene sulfide film 7 is formed by filming by a vacuum evaporation method, dipping method or the like, predrying the film at about 90W100°C then hot air drying the same at about 350W400°C, thence subjecting the same to orientation treatment by a tubbing method.
