Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus wherein satisfactory washing is attained even when floated filter material in particle form having low specific gravity, for example, of approx. 0.1W0.8, is used.
CONSTITUTION: The upper end portion of upper and lower ends opened cylinder 13 is equipped within the filter layer 11 comprising floated filter material in particle form during back washing operation and air stream is injected upwardly within the cylinder 13. In this type of a suspension clarifying apparatus, a stirring and water pumping means 14 of liquid is provided within the cylinder 13 in place of above described injecting means of upward air stream and a predetermined washing operation is attained.
