Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the copper ion concentration in waste liquid to a great extent, by adding waste liquid of chemical copper plating in the copper etching waste liquid of ammonium persulfate to turn acid, and electrolyzing by using insoluble anode.
CONSTITUTION: A copper etching waste liquid of ammonium persulfate containing copper ions, ammonium persulfate and ammonium sulfate, and a reducing liquid such as chemical copper plating waste liquid, containing copper ions as copper sulfate, formalin, caustic soda, chelating agent, organic inhibitor, etc., capable of causing Fehiling's reaction, are mixed by 1:1 ratio. Under the acid condition of pH 5 or less, this mixture waste liquid is electrolyzed by using ferrite electrode as insoluble anode. At this time, the liquid temperature should be 20W80°C, while the cathode current density should be 0.5A/dm2 2 or more. The copper ions in the waste liquid are electrodeposited on the cathode as metal copper, so that the copper ion concentration in the waste liquid may be greatly decreased to about 0.25ppm or less.
