Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve wavelength conversion efficiency even if light energy density is small by converting the wavelength of light by the use of a fibrous optical transmission line composed of light transmittable material containing fluorescent material. CONSTITUTION:The ray 14 of a green color having spectrum with the wavelength of 5300Angstrom as a center emitted from a light emitting diode 10 propagates in an optical fiber 11a to become input light which is then led into a fibrous optical transmission line 13. This fibrous optical transmission line 13 comprises fabricating the rhodamine 6G being fluorescent material mixed in the plastics of acrylic base having light transmittability to fiber form and bundling one or a multiplicity of the fibers. As a result, the ray 14 is absorbed in rhodamine 6G and the ray 15 of an orange color having the spectraum with the wavelength of 6000Angstrom as a center is newly emitted, whereby the wavelength conversion of light is accomplished. The ray 15 becomes output light which then propagates in the optical fiber 11b and enters a photo detector 12.
