Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an optical fiber splicer not permitting the reflected light to re- enter the fiber on the own side at the spliced part, by using two lenses differing in the periodic length. CONSTITUTION:Since an optical fiber splicer is composed of lenses of which periodic lengths are 1/8 and 3/8, the light leaving an optical fiber 14 is reflected by a detachable surface 15, and reaches the maximum beam diameter at the other end of the entry side of the lens, while the light entering the optical fiber 14 is part of the beam thereof and the quantity of reflected light becomes extremely small. Besides, since the beam on the detachable surface 15 is expanded beyond the diameter of the core of the optical fiber, the light is dispersed accodingly, so that effects of dust may be smaller, too.
