Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the demodulation distortion based on the diode level detector by useing the AM modulator using the negative feedback in place of the diode.
CONSTITUTION: The amplitude modulation wave signals generated at load tuning circuit 3 after supplied to input terminal 1 and amplified by transistor 2 are branched into two parts, and then the output voltage is produced at tuning circuits 6 and 7 via transistors 4 and 5. For this voltage, a linear detection is given to the positive and negative half waves via AM demodulators 21 and 31, and thus no distortion is caused to the AC component of the detection output produced at load resistances 10 and 11. Accordingly, the detection output produced demodulators 21 and 31 are added together to erase the DC component. As a result, no distortion caused by the nonlinearity of the diode is given at all to the frequency discrimination signal obtained at terminal 12, thus realizing a frequency discriminator which features a wide band range and can be applied up to a high frequency range.
