Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify miniaturization and IC implementation and also to suppress an anode current by controlling a horizontal driving stage by turning a diode ON (normally OFF) when an overcurrent flows through a gate turn-off switch. CONSTITUTION:When anode current IA of gate turn-off switch GTOQ5 increases due to load L, e.g. a spark in CRT, a voltage (A) across resistance R4 increases and when it becomes above the ON level of diode D1, D1 turns ON. AS a result, the base voltage (B) of transistor TrQ1 varies as shown by the solid line, the ON period of TrQ1, i.e., the OFF period of GTOQ5 expands, and the anode current (C) of GTOQ5 is suppressed as shown by the solid line. Therefore, breakdown of GTOQ5 is prevented.
