Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a sufficient lubricating function and to remove wear chips effectively by forming a block pattern consisting of multiple blocks on shaping a multiplicity of grooves on the face of bearing cap which is opposite to the end face of the shaft. CONSTITUTION:The face 24 of the bearing cap 10, which is opposite to the outside end face of the cross shaft, is provided with a concave 26, which is opposite to the outlet of feed oil for the cross shaft, and a ringwise concave 28 in which the external end of needle bearing is located. Also radial and coaxial grooves 30, 32 the section of which are V-shaped are provided to the face 24, a block pattern is formed by lands 34 shaped by these grooves. For a material of the bearing cap, Cr.Mo case hardening steel is used, said pattern can easily be formed by cold forging. In this way, wear chips are discharged to the grooves by centrifugal force, wear of the cap can be reduced.
