Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title rough fibers having improved hand, by spinning a uniform island-in-sea type spinning dope of micro phase separation comprising a specific amount of a water-insoluble different polymer with an acrylonitrile polymer and a solvent.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 80W98 parts by wt. of an acrylonitrile polymer consisting of 85 wt.% or more of acrylonitrile is mixed with (B) 2W20 parts by wt. of a water- insoluble different polymer, e.g. cellulose diacetate, which is soluble in a spinning solvent, and dissolved in the solvent, e.g. dimethylformamide, to form a uniform island-in-sea type spinning dope of micro phase separation wherein the diameter of the island component is substantially ≤20μ. The dope is then spun into fibers, which are drawn at an effective draw ratio in the range of 0.3W0.6 to form the desired fibers.
