Abstract
PURPOSE: To achieve higher safety by preventing a cover switch which turns off the current supply to a heating roller when the cover of the body is opened and a cover for preventing the touch by the hand and fingers to the electrophotographic copier provided with the heating roller and the fixing device which heat-fixes the unfixed toners.
CONSTITUTION: A switch-actuating protrusion 22 is protrusively provided to the iron piece 20 mounted to the front cover 16 of the electrophotographic copier and only when the front cover 16 is closed, a cover switch 24 is actuated to supply electric power to a fixing device 15. The opening window 18d which opposes to the fixing device 15 is so constituted as to be closed by a safety cover 25 for preventing the touch by the hand and fingers which also serves as a shield plate, so that at the stage when the front cover 16 is opened, the fixing device 15 does not expose. Thereupon, when the front cover 16 is opened, the current supply to the heating roller 27 is turned off and therefore there is no danger for electric shock and since the heating roller is held covered by the safety device for preventing the touch by the hand and fingers, it is prevented from being touched by the hand and fingers.
