Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable to form suitable magnetic layer having excellent dispersibility of magnetic powder and bondingness of base and further excessive mechanical strength, by taking the material for the base as aromatic polyamide system resin and taking the binder for the magnetic layer as specific resin.
CONSTITUTION: On the base preferrably about 3μ thick consisting of aromatic polyamide system resin, the magnetic layer is placed, which takes polyvinyl butyral resin, and urethane prepolymer, 5 to 50 wt%, preferrably 10 to 30 wt% to the total amount, as the binder. Thus, even if the total thickness of magnetic recording media is thin, the mechanical strength can sufficiently be held and the recording and reproducing time can be extended.
