Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable to form suitable magnetic layer having excellent dispersibility of magnetic powder and bondingness of base and further excessive mechanical strength, by taking the material for the base as aromatic polyamide system resin and taking the binder for the magnetic layer as specific resin.
CONSTITUTION: On the base preferrably about 3μ thick consisting of aromatic polyamide system resin, the magnetic layer is placed, which takes polyvinyl butyral resin, low molecular weight and more functional isocyanate compound of 1 to 30% to total, preferrably 2 to 20% wt., and urethane elastomer of 20 to 80%, preferrably 35 to 65% wt. to the entire binder constituent, high molecular plasticizer as the binder. Thus, even if the total thickness of magnetic recording media is thin, the mechanical strength can sufficiently be held and the recording and reproducing time can be extended.
