Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform nozzle exchange without stopping operation of a furnace by pulling a damaged double-tube nozzle; boring a hole larger than the nozzle in outside diameter along the hole of the pulled nozzle; and pressure-feeding a refractory material between a new nozzle inserted and the inside of the hole.
CONSTITUTION: When refractory material 2 surrounding double-tube nozzle 3 for blowing is worn out to form funnelform recess 9 in a refining furnace, nozzle 3 is pulled out to be exchanged. A hole whose inside diameter is 10W80mm larger than the diameter of nozzle 3 is bored along the hole of the pulled nozzle in material 2. The tip opening of new nozzle 3 is shut with lid 12, and flower-form refractory plate 11 is attached to the center of nozzle 3. Nozzle 3 is then set at the center of the bored hold so that plate 11 reaches the undamaged level of material 2. Refractory material 10 such as refractory mortar is pressure-fed into the gap between outer tube 4 of nozzle 3 and material 2 from the iron shell 1 side, and recess 9 is filled with a baking agent to finish nozzle exchange attachment.
