Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the withstand voltage characteristics in a cathode-ray tube by performing a spot knocking processing while heating the electrode which constitutes an electron gun. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic flux when current is supplied to an electrode baking coil 40 for applying an high frequency current generates eddy current in a G5 electrode 25 and heats the place near a G6 electrode 26 of the electrode 25. By adjusting the position, shape, and high frequency current value of the electrode baking coil 40, the local degree of vacuum deterioration is generated and the required selective knocking processing can be performed. Further, actual color picture tubes use evaporation type getters to maintain the degree of intra-tube vaccum.
