Abstract
PURPOSE:To assure the optimum rabbling thrust at all times even when the slab temperature changes and obtain the slab of good quality by controlling the frequency and voltage of the supply electric power source to the electromagnetic rabbling device by the frozen shell thickness of the slab measured near said device. CONSTITUTION:The temperature change or impedance chamber of the slag surface of a molten part 1 is detected by a temperature detector or search coil 5. Or the change in the current, electric power or power factor of an electromagnetic rabbling device 4 is detected and the change in the magnetic permeability of the frozen shell 2 is obtained. Further, the casting speed is obtained from a pulse transmitter 6 and is subjected to A/D conversion in a signal processing unit 7. In an arithmetic unit 8, the thickness of the magnetic frozen shell is obtained and the frequency and voltage to become the set rabbling thrust are obtained. A command is then given to a variable voltage-variable frequency unit 9. Thence, the correct frequency and voltage are applied to the electromagnetic rabbling device 4 by the unit 9, whereby the rabbling thrust is controlled.
