Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent an arc-proof ring from breaking away by a construction wherein a flexible insulator is arranged on axial end of a commutator, and the arc- proof ring is mounted in contact with a projection provided on outer diameter side of the flexible insulator and a creeping insulating material. CONSTITUTION:A commutator segment 4 is mounted on a supporting member 6 through a creeping insulating material 9, and a flexible insulator 13 is arranged on an axial end 12 of the commutator segment 4 covering from a wear threshold S to the creeping insulating material 9. The flexible insulator 13 has a projection 13P provided on the outer diameter side, and an arc-proof ring 10 almost L-shaped in section which consists of fluororesin is mounted in contact with the projection 13P and the creeping insulating material 9. By constituting such as described, a thermal expansion of the commutator segment 4 can be absorbed by the flexible insulator 13, therefore the arc-proof ring 10 is prevented from breaking away from the commutator segment side.
