Abstract

PURPOSE:To protect an LED by connecting a direct current input power source to the LED and by connecting a constant-voltage element to the LED in parallel. CONSTITUTION:A protective resister 6 is connected in series to the LED, and a Zener diode 7 is connected in parallel to the above series circuit with an inverse relation to the LED. With this composition, the voltage at both ends of the Zener diode 7 do not come up above the Zener voltage V2 when the input voltage V is increased. Therefore, the current applied to the LED is not increased in excess of a uniform value. The Zener diode 7 short-circuits the LED1 when the power source is connected reversely.
