Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject material appearing similar to natural leather by using a method comprising the steps of heating and pressing an intertwinded body consisting of fiber assemblies to tighten the same, thereafter moderating the outer layer of the intertwined body, the opening and raising the same, adding a polymer thereto, coagulating the same, and repeating the moderating, opening and raising.

CONSTITUTION: Fiber assemblies containing less than 10% by weight of the available component of a lubricant are subjected to needling to form an intertwined body having on its one surface more than 200 punches per cm². Then, the interwined body is passed through a tightening device comprising as elongation part consisting of a steaming part 7 and drying parts 9 and 9', a heating and pressing part 14 and tightening device having pipe heaters 10 through 13, thereby to form a basic organization having an elongation of 0W80% and an end density of tightened layer of 0.44 or more or a non-porous basic organization of more than two layers having mean end density of 0.8 or less. Further, in the surface layer region of this tightened body there is formed a relaxed layer of more than 0.05mm, and the thus formed layer is subjected to opening charge raising or opening absorption raising thereby to form a substrate having the end density of the denatured layer of 0.36 or less 20 where the layer thereof is added to solidify about 8W40% of a solid polymer to form a porous sheet, and the operations of moderating, opening and raising are repeated to render the density of the porous sheet into 0.5 or less.
