Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:N-(1-Methyl-2-acetylvinyl)-aspartic acid anhydride of the formula.
USE: A raw material or intermediate for the synthesis of various peptides and asparagine, an intermediate for sweetening agents, lower alkyl esters of α-L-aspartyl-L- phenylalanine.
PROCESS: Aspartic acid is reacted with acetylacetone at -30W50°C, preferably -25W20°C, for 1W25hr to form N-(1-methyl-2-acetylvinyl)-aspartic acid, which is then treated with a dehydrating agent in an organic solvent to give the objective substance. DL-Aspartic acid is used to prepare a racemic modification, and L- or D-aspartic acid is used to give optically active isomers in the similar procedure.
