Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce rows of gears to eliminate clearance and to reduce transmission errors occurring in reversing of reciprocating scanning members, by engaging and disengaging wire winding pulley for trasmitting drive force to the scanning members with a drive shaft by clutch means.
CONSTITUTION: Power is supplied and main drive motor 9 is rotated, then, drive shaft 12 is rotated by timing pulley 10 and belt 11, and photosensitive drum 7 is rotated at a given speed by the drive force of drum drive gear 13. A copying start signal actuates electromagnetic clutch 14 provided on drive shaft 12, engaging shaft 12 with wire winding pulley 15 for driving an optical system in one body, and optical scanning members 17 start advancing in the direction of exposure scanning. There are not elements, such as gear rows in transmission route for transmitting drive force of drive shaft 12 to pulley 15 and its transmission means is connected so as to exhibit sufficient buffer starting.
