Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten the average access time for reading a data and to enhance the processing capacity, by sending the same read command to two disk devices, reading that which is made to read out at first, and providing a release command for the read command to the device from which the command has not been read out.
CONSTITUTION: The read command from the computer body CPU is sent to the main control circuit 2 through the interface control circuit 1, and the read command is sent out to both the disk devices A and B after it has been decoded in the circuit 2. The devices A and B which have received the aforesaid command start the read preparation, send a read preparation completion signal to the decision circuit 3 before the data is actually read out, provide a command from the circuit 3 to the changeover circuit 4 so that it can be connected to the device A or B which has sent out the completion signal at first, and the data from the device A or B is provided to the data buffer 5. Furthermore, the circuit 3 provides the command to the command release circuit 6, as well, and it is indicated from the circuit 6 to the device B or A to release the read command. And the average access time for reading the data is shortened, and the processing capacity is enhanced.
