Abstract

PURPOSE: To stabilize the extraction of sludge by a method wherein the quantity of overflow from an overflow weir mounted at an outlet of a sludge pit is controlled.
CONSTITUTION: A weir opening detector 18 is installed to an overflow weir 8 and a return sludge flow meter 19 at the outlet side of a pump 5. Output from the flow meter 19 is converted into electric signals by means of a flow rate transducer 20, and inputted to a function generator 25. The function generator 25 puts out the opening of the overflow weir 8, but the output is inputted to a subtracter 24 with output from an opening transducer 21 to which actual opening is inputted, and the subtracter 24 puts out the deviation. Output from the subtracter 24 controls a motor 22 through a drive circuit 22 only when the deviation is larger than allowable deviation by letting the output pass through a three position controller 23, thus controlling the opneing of the weir. The control of opening is continued until the deviation becomes smaller than allowable deviation.
