Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent noises in braking by a method wherein a contact pressure of a friction pad backing metal and a piston is made weak on both sides in the disc circumference direction and strong on both sides in the disc diameter direction.
CONSTITUTION: Both side portions 10a and 10c in the disc circumference direction, out of a ringed surface 10 of a friction pad backing metal 8 which contacts a piston with a ringed end surface, are formed lower than both side portions 10b and 10d in the disc diameter direction. This constitution does not allow swinging of the friction pad backing metal around the axis in the disc diameter direction while allowing slight swinging of the friction pad backing metal around the axis in the disc diameter direction. Accordingly, a friction pad lining surface in made fit to the uneveness following a disc rotation to prevent generation of noises in braking.
