Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent active carbon dust from leaking out of a container having trapper using active carbon for evaporated fuel for internal combustion engine by a method wherein a filter-holding-plate having produced edge is attached to the container to press and hold a filter onto the inner wall of the container.
CONSTITUTION: Between an internal combustion engine 1 and a fuel tank 3, a container 5 having active carbon 9 for evaporated fuel trapper 4 is installed and connected with connection pipe 12 and connection pipe 13 having valve 14. When the engine 1 is stopped, active carbon 9 in the container 4 traps evaporated fuel from the tank 3. When the engine 1 operates, suction route 2 becomes negative pressure to open the valve 14 and fuel trapped in the active carbon 9 is guided, together with air from the inlet 8 of the container 5, into the engine 1. Hold plates 19, 22 having protruded edges 19a, 22a are used to hold filters 10, 11 installed at interface of the active carbon 9 in the container 5. Also, porous plates 17, 20 and felts 18, 21 are installed between the filters and active carbon. This prevents dust of active carbon from leaking out of the container 5 and therefore function of trapping evaporated fuel is not reduced.
